Hello, I recently started printing my own checks using Checkmagic software driven by Quicken, on check paper from asapchecks.com. I bank at Wells Fargo, and one of my favorite things about Wells is the online banking. Click the website, get my balance, all the cleared checks etc. And a neat new feature is the 'view', where you can see a picture of your check on the browser, and print it to the printer.

No more asking the bank for a copy when a vendor says I didn't pay! When I first started printing checks, I used the large voucher checks. They look professional, and there's plenty of space for memos - account numbers, invoice numbers etc. That lasted until I got the first web listing with the new checks: 02/22/06 CHECK $80.00 No, there wasn't even a check number! And yes, I did make out more than one check for $80 this month. I reasoned that the large checks just didn't fit in their reading equipment, and somebody had to type in the amount - and they typed nothing else. So I went to the wallet sized check stock.

Somewhat better, the online lines look like this: 02/22/06 CHECK #1234 View $80.00 Having the check# of course, makes a big difference. However, when I click the 'View' link, it comes back ( after a delay of a few seconds ) with 'The system is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.' If OTOH I go back to one of the preprinted checks, it works normally. So the system is not really 'temporarily unavailable', it's just not working for my home-printed checks. Now, I know I could buy preprinted checks, ready to have just the amount,date,payee printed on by Quicken. The two problems with that are 1.

They're expensive 2. There's a synchronization problem. I have to make sure that when I print check #1234 from Quicken, that #1234 and no other, is loaded into the printer. All sorts of hassles with that.

Anybody doing similar? Got any hints to make it work better? Different bank?

There are two ways to view your checks online, depending on whether you’re enrolled for online banking access to your accounts: • If you already have online banking access, as usual to get access to online check images. Go to Account Activity and click View next to the check you would like to see. • If you’re not enrolled for online banking access, we’ll ask you to provide your Social Security number, ATM PIN, and account number to authenticate your identity before allowing you to view your checks online.

We’ll also ask you for an email address so we can notify you if one of your requested check images is not yet available.. Select your account and search for the check by the date it posted and by the check number or dollar amount. View a check by selecting the View Now link. If the check number is displayed in account activity, then the check has already posted to your account.

And, if the check number is displayed in account activity, then the check image can be accessed after 7:00 a.m. For example, if you have a check transaction that posts on your Account Activity screen on Tuesday, the check image will be available after 7:00 a.m. Local time that day (Tuesday). Please note: Online Check Images are not available from Saturday 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time to Sunday 2:00 a.m. Pacific Time so that our images systems can be updated.

If you already have online access,. Click Request Copies from the Account Activity page. Then: • Select the account from which the check was written issued. • Enter the first date that this check might have posted and enter a range from that date.

• Enter either a check number (or range of check numbers) or the dollar amount of the check (or range of dollar amounts) to complete the search for your check. • View a check by selecting the View Now link. If you’re not enrolled for online access,. Enter your Social Security number, Business or Personal ATM PIN, account number, and email address. A “Search for a Check” screen will display.

Follow the instructions above. You can search for more than one check at a time.

A paper copy of a check posted prior to July 26, 2002 can be sent to you via USPS mail. If you already have online banking access,.

• Click Save. Macintosh users: • Position your cursor over the copy you want to save. • Click and hold down the mouse button. • Select Download Image to Disk.

• Choose a location on your hard drive to save your copy. • Click Save. To view a saved check image: Locate the saved image on your computer and double-click the file name to view. Select a Web browser from the list of available programs and click Continue.
