Gbu 311 Windows 7 Driver
Hello all, Have overclocked in the past- This week problem is finding drivers for Windows 7 RC 7100, for (older) Ethernet (hardwired) network cards. It seems the main focus for the manufacturers is wireless cards, and getting you to buy their latest offerings, instead of providing drivers / workarounds on older cards if possible.. (Note on the Linksys Site- 1: There is a Vista logo, wording that says LNE100TX is a supported card in Vista (Yes I know I'm wanting drivers for Win7 RC 7100) 2: There are several versions of the card, Linkys should make it clear which versions 'work'. 3: The package I downloaded makes no mention of Vista in the Readme file or explains how /if the XP /Win2000 drivers can be made to work.
Wouldn't take too much to update the readme file LINKSYS. Or update the package and name the Vista files 'Vista_xxx') Anyhow, here are the cards I'd like to get 'working' Netgear FA311 rev B-1 10-100 Ethernet PCI Linksys LNE 100TX Rev2.0 10-100 Ethernet card NOTE, for someone who may be 'looking' for info on the Linksys LNE100TX, REV 2.0 1: On the Linksys site, when asked for your cards ver number select Ver 1.0- (It is the ONLY option that appears LOL) Once you select 1.0, scroll down the page to see what files are available. (When you select 1.0 the page refreshes so fast you miss the fact the page has changed- unless you scroll down.) 2: I got the Linksys LNE 100TX card sort of working with lne100txv42_4.exe Windows 2000 drivers off the Linksys site. Lne100tx512_2,0.zip was a NO go. As those drivers do not support REV 2.0 cards. I say sort of working- because I think the LNE100TX at random is causing the machine to lock-up HARD (mouse, keyboard, clock, whatever is on the screen is FROZEN), requiring a manual power down (hold in the power switch for 8 secs+/-) Regarding the Crashing -read a post somewhere that Win7 needs more 'juice' /stresses the system more so it might be I need to bump up voltage a notch-(Running a stock stock /voltages) Or it might be that Windows 7 just doesn't like the hardware- Hardware that runs at 100% cpu /system load 24/7 and does not crash under XP Pro.
Anyhow, sorry for rambling. And excuse the info above, figured it might help someone that's trying to get a Linksys LNE100TX, REV 2.0 get it up and running Win 7 RC 7100. Tried several other old cards- no go on those as well. EDIT: Assuming the above cards, and 'older' cards cannot be made to work in RC7100. WHAT CURRENT, Low Cost (HARDWIRED) ETHERNET CARDS ARE CONFIRMED TO WORK? Newegg.com links would be appreciated!!!
Jun 12, 2013 Netgear FA311 v1 NIC compatibility with Windows 7. Windows 7 driver Does anyone know if there is a Windows 7 driver. Nov 09, 2009 Window 7 Netgear WG311v3 Drivers. Windows 7 IT Pro >Windows 7 Networking. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing.
PS: For anyone wondering why someone would be on a overclocking site looking for info on the above the answer is simple: Overclockers by their very nature (and the process of overclocking) push their hardware, and will know of work-arounds 'normal' computer users would never even think of. I think I have the NETGEAR FA311, B-1 up and running: Solution - Netgear FA311 v1 + No Internet + RC Build 7100 After you've installed the NETGEAR FA311, B-1 drivers (I'll have to try to find which drivers I used.) On a non-working install: Go to Device manager, right click on NIC, Select properties. Click Advanced tab, Under the property, there should be 3 entries listed: 1. Network Address - Not present selected 2. Speed & Duplex settings - Auto sense (This will be changed to 100TX) 3. Transmit buffers - 160 (Transmit buffers were set at 40 by default on my system for some reason.
I think I'm running the 1.80 FA311 drivers - I set this value to 128 (Highest it would go) Select Power Management tab, By default Both the check boxes were selected. (These will be deselected as Netgear website says the v1 doesnt support wake-on LAN and it has a speed of 100Tx.) THE FIX, (5 steps): 1: Go to Device manager, right click on NIC, Select properties. Click Advanced tab. On the advanced tab, Select Speed & Duplex settings. Dell Latitude D430 Wifi Drivers Windows 7. Change Auto Sense to 100Tx.
2: Change Transmit buffers * Note this is optional 1.8 driver inf sets to 40, I changed to 128 3: Go to Power Management tab, Uncheck both the check boxes. 4: Click Ok and exit out of any menus. 5: Reboot router, dsl/cable modem if it has a built-in router.
Additional info: No need to reboot- but you may have to power cycle your router /DSL modem if it has a built in router. For me after doing the above settings I had to go into the 'Network and Sharing Center', and change the network type to private (or workgroup) from public.. Don't close thread this one of those archive threads that while not heavily pertinent at any given time will come under use time and again over the years if anyone still has any of these old nics lying around(not many caps on them so they will probably last a long time also the caps would be very easy to replace as well the chip will probably never die and has been re acquired by Texas Instruments from National Semiconductor(all american) the DP83815 pretty much states this chip was only used on the Netgear FA311/312 I just don't know how to port the driver to get it to work on Win764 or 8).

I have no problem with you bumping a old thread, it makes no sense in starting a totally different thread as it's a waste everyone's time starting from 'scratch'. I regards to your concerns, IIRC I was able to use FA311 v1 with Win7 64 bit. Don't remember the details beyond what is posted above just remember being miffed that a card that sold by the millions didn't have updated drivers / listing for x64 drivers.
